Welcome to the online gallery of Blackburn-based artist Emma Reay. I specialise in original animal paintings that combine detailed wildlife with vibrant abstract backgrounds, creating bold contemporary artworks full of colour and character.
I create unique animal art for collectors, galleries and private clients across Lancashire.
I am also open to exhibition opportunities with galleries, curators and art organisations.

About the Artist
Growing up in a creative family inspired my passion for art from an early age, surrounded by influences such as calligraphy, watercolour and poetry. I studied Art, Graphic Design and Filmmaking through school, college and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art with Media, which developed my skills across multiple disciplines that continue to shape my layered, mixed-media practice.
Behind the Artwork
I combine acrylic paint, pouring techniques and fine pen detailing to create layered, vibrant mixed-media works influenced by post-modern expressionism, surrealism and graphic art.
My practice explores colour and form through contemporary animal paintings that often evolve from found photographs, which I reinterpret by altering and simplifying elements. With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, my work has developed from silkscreen portraiture into a curated gallery of expressive wildlife-focused paintings defined by texture, colour and detail.
