MONKEY PAINTING
Subject 2024
This monkey painting was created in 2024 using acrylic paint on canvas.
The background is made using red acrylic pouring paints with a hint of yellow pouring paints. On top of this, I pressed painted random household objects into the surface. It is inspired by the simple, playful process of children painting wooden blocks and stamping them onto paper.
The monkey itself is painted by hand using a brush. The idea behind the piece is animal experimentation. I imagine a monkey placed in an animal testing environment, where it is made to complete simple puzzle tasks for food, similar to films like Planet of the Apes.

About the Artist
I enjoy experimenting with a wide range of tools, from traditional brushes and palette knives to sponges and everyday objects, allowing me to create rich textures and unexpected marks. I also spend time stepping back from the canvas throughout the process, letting the painting reveal its own story and discovering shapes and details within the abstract layers.
My approach has been influenced by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Steve Smythe and Andy Warhol, whose willingness to experiment continues to inspire the way I create and explore new ideas.
