WHALE PAINTING

Ocean Whale

I enjoy experimenting with different techniques to create unique animal portraits. For this whale painting, I started by using pouring acrylic paints , dripping them onto the canvas all at once before adding oil over the top. As the oil spread across the wet paint, it created intricate lines that remind me of the movement of the sea.

The whale was painted in acrylic using a palette knife, which gave it plenty of texture and character. I only used a brush for the eyes and the lines on its stomach. To finish the piece, I added black paint to the palette knife, pressed it onto the canvas beside the whale and dragged it outwards. This created a splash effect, making it look as though the whale is bursting through the water.

About the Artist

Art has always been a natural part of my life. Raised in a creative household, I was inspired by my grandfather, a calligrapher and watercolour artist, and my father, a poet. Being surrounded by different forms of artistic expression from an early age sparked a lasting interest in creativity and visual communication.
