PARROT PAINTING
Paradise
Paradise is a contemporary bird painting inspired by the bold colours and character of tropical parrots. The background was created using acrylic pouring paints, producing a feminine mix of colour that helps bring the artwork to life. For this painting, I experimented with a palette knife for around 85% of the process of painting the parrot, using layered strokes to build texture and depth throughout the feathers. I then switched to brushes for the finer details around the face and feet, allowing me to capture more definition and personality in these areas.
One of the most unusual aspects of this piece is the pink background. I don’t often use pink in my work, as I generally try to create paintings that appeal to a wide audience, but in this case it felt like the perfect choice. The colour helps the parrot stand out while adding warmth and energy to the composition. Paradise reflects my ongoing exploration of texture, colour and technique, and showcases the expressive style that runs throughout my animal paintings and bird commission paintings.

About the Artist
My creative education began with Art and Graphic Design at high school, followed by further studies in Art, Graphic Design and Filmmaking at college. I later graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art with Media, exploring everything from painting and printmaking to photography, graphic design and digital media. Working across so many disciplines gave me a versatile skill set and continues to shape the way I create, particularly through my use of texture, composition and layered techniques.
Today, I work in marketing, where I blend creativity with strategy to produce engaging content, develop brands and communicate ideas through compelling visual and written storytelling. Alongside my professional career, I continue to create artwork, drawing on both my artistic background and the skills I’ve developed throughout my career.
