OWL ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS
Wisdom
Painted in June 2025, this owl became a real experiment in texture and realism. I wanted to see how lifelike I could make the feathers, so I started by applying thick acrylic paint with a palette knife to create depth and movement. Once that had dried, I built up each feather using a paintbrush with careful single strokes, allowing the layers underneath to add natural texture and dimension.
It was a technique I hadn’t explored in this way before, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. The finished piece captures both the softness and strength of the owl, making it one of my favourite paintings to date.

About the Artist
I found my creative style back in 2014 while studying for my Fine Art Degree with Lancaster University. After a creative break where I focussed on graphic design rather than painting, I picked up the paint brush around nine years later and found my calling – Animal Paintings.
